Left Section of Heart

RELAXES
(diastole)

Blood comes to the left side of the heart from the lungs.
Blood fills the left atrium.
From the left atrium, blood falls through a valve (mitral) into the left ventricle.

TIGHTENS
(systole)

The mitral valve closes, and the aortic valve opens.
Blood is pumped from the left ventricle through the aortic valve to the lower and upper body.
