Day 7 - May 27, 2000 (page 1) |
Today we will disembark at Heraklion, the capital and principal commercial port of Crete. We will visit the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 by Sir Arthur Evans and partially reconstructed, the elaborate palace is believed to be where the mythical labyrinth of King Minos existed and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. The Minoans had an advanced society on Crete around 2000 B.C.
