The massive gates at Balawat, made of wood and decorated with strips of worked bronze illustrating Assyrian battles..  Michael was impressed with the scene where they cut off the hands and feet of those they conquered.
x000710.jpg (12386 bytes) One of several magnificent winged bulls, which protected the doorways of Assyrian cities, allowing in only good and warding off evil spirits.
x000712.jpg (20721 bytes) The Rosetta Stone, under the close observation of these two amateur Egyptologists, is a slab of black basalt with Hieroglyphs, demotic and Greek scripts.  It was the key to recovering the ability to read Egyptian writing.
