Most of today was
spent on the bus, traveling from Venice to Rome, because the official tour group ends
tonight. This is Michael demonstrating a great attitude for such a long bus ride. |
|
Our group decided to
try to get to Rome in time to enter St. Peter's Cathedral. This is a shot of Linda,
Sara, & Michael looking at Michelangelo's fantastic Pieta, completed when he was only
25. It's hard to believe this glass-like work is marble. |

These are a few of
the Swiss Guards that provide security for the Vatican. They have been used for
centuries by kings and popes for protection and defense. You may have read about the
tragic murder here a few weeks ago. |
|
Sara (we hope for
the last time) receives the attentions of the singing group at dinner. There seem to
be about 10 songs that each performer repeats wherever we go to eat. They always
start with "Solo Mio" and add "When Irish Eyes" for humor. |
|
On the left is our
Globus tour guide, Alberto, and our bus driver, Andrea. They have both been
excellent. The guide has provided so much historical background in his
descriptions. We would recommend this tour and his services highly. |

Here is Michael,
performing the traditional act at Trevi Fountain upon leaving Rome. He tosses a
coin, with his right hand over his left shoulder, into the water, with the wish to return
to Rome someday. |
