We dropped by the American School of Paris. This was where Sara and Michael went to school when we lived in France. We learned that they have a web site, which we will use in the future keep in touch: http://www.asparis.org
Here's the highlight of our visit to ASP. Mr. Chater was the kids' music teacher. He graciously posed for this picture, and, this year, is celebrating 30 years teaching at ASP. Congratulations, Mr. Chater!
We visited our favorite spots at Versailles (apart from the Palace). This is the mill in Marie-Antoinette's imitation peasant village, where she played with her children.
This little pavilion, just outside the Petit Trianon, is a special little place where it is said a kiss seals eternal love.
The Petit Trianon, built in 1762 as a retreat for Louis XV, became a favorite of Marie-Antionette's, where she could be far from the hectic crowds and pace at the main palace. Michael is particularly fond of the Medusa sculpture inside.
Sara stands at a cross-end of the Grand Canal, the setting for Louis XIV's many boating parties. Notice the trees along the borders, tops trimmed into precise rectangles. We've always wondered who climbs up there with the clippers. |
